Using BIRD for Financial Aid Information

New and continuing students may call BIRD to inquire about and update their financial aid files. (New undergraduates must have paid their deposit before they will be eligible to use BIRD to accept/decline financial aid.) Immediately after you have successfully logged on to BIRD, you will hear your financial aid information.

Please note that all financial aid grants such as EOP, Pell, SEOG, and institutional scholarships have been accepted on your behalf. Therefore, you will not be able to access these awards on BIRD. We only estimate TAP on your award letter because it is your responsibility to submit the TAP application to New York State HESC. Therefore, you will be unable to accept TAP on BIRD.

After BIRD has spoken your financial aid information, it will prompt you for the next request. Option #1 is "Status of your financial aid application and/or financial aid awards."

From this point, the system will guide you through the steps to accepting your awards. Your choices are:

  1. Listen to a list of all financial aid awards
  2. Listen to a list of financial aid awards that you may accept

If your file is complete, BIRD will offer you the option to hear and accept/decline the financial aid awards reserved for you.
