Right of Persons With Disabilities to Identify Themselves

Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implementing the Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, defines a disabled person as one who has 1) a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities, 2) a record of such an impairment, or 3) is regarded as having such an impairment, who can, with or without reasonable accomodation peform the essential functions of a job, or meet the requirements for receipt of a service or participation in a program.

Under Section 60741.4 of the regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, all employees with disabilities who would like to be considered under the university affirmative action program are invited to identify themselves by letter or telephone call.

Information will be handled on a confidential basis, and persons may call for further information without having to identify themselves by name or department.

Any member of the university community who requires additional information, wishes to make a complaint or to receive a copy of the university procedures to be followed for complaints arising from matters related to the policies outlined above should contact The Office of Equity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Administration (EDAAA).
