How to Pay Your Bill
Your billing statement is due upon receipt. In order to avoid a late payment fee, you must pay your bill in full by the payment due date.
Methods of Payment
You may pay by check (made out to "University at Buffalo"), money order, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card.
Payment by Mail
To pay by mail, use the pre-addressed envelope enclosed with your bill. Return the top portion of the bill with your payment; include your name and UB Person Number on your check. Correspondence should be sent to:
- Student Academic Records & Financial Services
- 232 Capen Hall
- Buffalo, NY 14260
Payment by Credit Card
Web Payments Accepted - You now have the opportunity to pay your bill and retrieve your account balance via the Internet. The University at Buffalo will accept credit card payments from Visa, MasterCard and Discover. This secure service will be available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day).
To make a payment, you or someone paying on your behalf, will need to enter the student person number. Access to account information is limited to you (the student) and will require your UBit name and password. We encourage you to take advantage of this new service.
Payment by MasterCard, Discover or Visa Card may also be made by telephone from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday. When calling, you will be asked for the following information: Charge card number, expiration date, cardholder's name, address, student name and person number. The number to call is (716) 645-2450 or toll free at 1-866-838-7257.
Payment in Person
You may also pay by cash when paying in person. The Student Response Center is located at 232 Capen Hall. The office is open from 8:30 - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This method is the least convenient of the ways in which you can pay because lines often form on payment due dates.
Payment Alternative - The UB Time Payment Plan
The UB Time Payment Plan allows you to pay your semester bill in several installments spread over the course of a semester.
If You Overpay and Have A Credit Balance
In cases where you have a credit balance on your account, you may leave the credit until your next semester or you may request a refund of the overpayment. Visit or contact the Student Response Center in 232 Capen Hall to obtain the necessary Refund Request Form. You must file this request within one year after the end of the semester in which you had the credit balance.
Note Regarding Bad Checks: If your payment is refused by your bank, UB will add $20.00 in charges to your total account in addition to a late payment fee if applicable. You will be required to make future payments in cash or secured funds (i.e. certified bank check or money order).
Note Regarding Declined Credit Cards: You will be notified if your payment has been denied by your bank. A late payment fee will be applied to your account if applicable.
